Following the success of the first call, which benefited 35 organisations from 16 countries, SMURF´s open 2nd call aims to support over 77 entities from the 27 European countries.
This Second Call is open until 2 July 2025, 17:00 CET, aiming to support forest owners’ organisations across Europe in actively promoting innovation, sustainability, and profitability in small-scale forestry through their participation in a variety of activities. Each organization can decide the activities to apply for and they can receive up to 60,000 euro.
The call is distributing up to €825,000 in grants to fund participation in up to six different activities, including:
- Developing innovative business models to empower small forest owners.
- Leading Close-to-Nature Silviculture demonstration sites, providing hands-on training.
- Attending specialised CNS training sessions across Europe.
- Implementing pilot carbon projects to promote ecosystem service payments in forestry.
- Contributing to national and regional Working Groups.
- Participating in the SMURF Final Conference and joint communication and dissemination activities.
This call represents a major milestone for the SMURF project, involving small forest owner organisations in key project activities to foster innovation, sustainability, and profitability in small-scale forestry across Europe.
