The SMURF project participated in the EGU26, one of the most prominent international conferences in the field of geosciences.
In collaboration with partners from UniFI and Bluebiloba, SMURF researchers presented recent results developed on Work Package 4 (WP4), focusing on sustainable forest management practices and their role in addressing climate change challenges. The contribution was presented in Session BG3.13 (Posters on site) under the reference EGU26-11651 (ECS). The poster, entitled “Continuous cover forest management in Black pine stands: regeneration dynamics, ecosystem services and implications for climate change mitigation”, explores regeneration processes, ecosystem services, and their implications for climate change mitigation in Black pine forests.
Authored by Giuliano Secchi, Viviana Altomare, Ilaria Zorzi, Jessica Scriva, Irene Fattoretto, Ilaria Incollu, Yamuna Giambastiani, Davide Travaglini, and Francesca Giannetti, the work was presented on Monday, 4 May, from 08:30 to 10:15 (CEST), in Hall X1 (position X1.53).
The poster attracted significant interest from both attendees and session conveners, highlighting the relevance of SMURF’s research in advancing knowledge on continuous cover forestry and its contribution to climate resilience. This participation reinforces SMURF’s commitment to scientific dissemination and active engagement within the international research community.
