New European Commission 2024-2029

The new European Commission, set to govern from 2024 to 2029, has been officially approved by the European Parliament. It continues under the leadership of Ursula von der Leyen, with competitiveness, productivity, sustainability, decarbonisation, circular economy and innovation among her key priorities.

Among the 27 commissioners, there are several noteworthy appointment for forestry sector which are Christophe Hansen (Commissioner for Agriculture and Food), Stéphane Séjourné (Executive Vice-President for Prosperity and Industrial Strategy), Wopke Hoekstra (Commissioner for Climate, Net Zero and Clean Growth), Jessika Roswall (Commissioner for Environment, Water Resilience and a Competitive Circular Economy) and Teresa Ribera Rodríguez (Executive Vice-President for Clean, Just and Competitive Transition).
