We are still analysing the results, but all indications suggest that—just like the first—this second open call for forest owners’ organisations has been a clear success!
A total of 66 applications were received from associations in 17 EU countries, showing remarkable interest and engagement across Europe.
Organisations expressed strong interest in all six activities of this call, from implementing innovative business models to pilot carbon projects or setting up CNS demonstration stands. This level of participation reflects a growing commitment to implementing forestry practices that are both profitable and sustainable, while also fostering regional innovation.
These results also highlight the impressive outreach and geographical coverage already achieved by the SMURF project. They underline both the high visibility of the initiative and the strong engagement of European forest owner organisations in supporting the sustainable management of small forest holdings.
